What will this day be like, I wonder?
It was fabulous! No raindrops on roses in site, it was a beautiful day! We celebrated my grandmother's 98th birthday this weekend with "A Few of My Favorite Things" theme. My mom was my fact finder, helping me get all my grandmother's favorite things documented. She has alot! It was a treat finding out things we didn't know. For instance, I didn't know she collected arrowheads when she was younger or that her favorite candy bar was a Baby Ruth.
When family and friends arrived, they wrote a favorite thing about the birthday girl on post-it notes, in the shape of an "H" - her initial. These notes will go in her memory book. My cousin, Gerlinda, played the guitar, and we all sang, "These are a Few of My Favorite Things" to her. Most of the great-grandchildren didn't know this song, so they all learned something new!
We did have a day full of the sound of music, fun and laughter...Great memories, and looking forward to many more!
I made all the printables, signs and tablescape, my inspiration was from "favorite things" I already had. For instance the chevron fabric, was the inspiration for the design of the invite and used throughout the printables.
My first attempt at a ruffle cake. |
Family and Friends wrote their favorite thing about the birthday girl. |
My GG - being "Maria" - Yes, it was a wonderful day! |
